Conditions related to the zero-rating
You must be :
- resident in a third country 2 at the date of purchase ;
- of passage in France for less than six months;
- be 16 years of age or older.
You must be able to prove these qualities at the time of purchase
(presentation of a passport or identity document if you are a foreigner, a
consulate registration card or any other attestation document if you are
French and reside outside the European Union).
The following are thus excluded from the sale on a zero-rated basis:
- residents of a Member State of the European Union 1 ;

Residents of the overseas departments (Guadeloupe, Guyana, Martinique,
Mayotte and Reunion);

persons leaving to take up their post in a third State or an assimilated
territory 2 ;

members of diplomatic and consular missions and international organizations
posted in France or in the European Union;
-
students or trainees residing for more than six months a year in France or
in the European Union ;
-
people who leave the European Union permanently, even if they return to
their country of origin ;
- residents of the Principality of Monaco ;
-
people who have returned to France or the European Union to resettle;
-
people who leave the European Union permanently, even if they return to
their country of origin ;
-
Beneficiaries of a French social security organization who apply for tax
exemption for pharmaceutical products that may be subject to full or partial
reimbursement.

2 Third country: A country that is not a member of the European
Union. Are assimilated to third States, because they are not part of the
Community customs territory:

Caledonia, Wallis and Futuna, Saint Pierre and Miquelon, the French Southern
and Antarctic Territories; Saint Martin and Saint Barthelemy ;

the territories of another member state of the European Union : the
Anglo-Norman Islands (Jersey, Guernsey...), the Principality of Andorra, the
Faroe Islands, the Canary Islands, Ceuta and Melilla, San Marino, the
Vatican, Gibraltar, the Dutch part of Saint Martin, the island of Heligoland
and the territory of Büsigen, Livigno, Campione d'Italia, Mount Athos, the
Aland Islands and Greenland.
