Our multimedia player supports direct playback of full 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray disc images (BDMV and ISO) with Dolby Vision menus (MEL and FEL), as well as various file formats, including MKV, MP4, TS, and M2TS. The advanced video processing engine Dolby Vision VS10 ensures maximum image quality when playing any type of content (SDR, HDR, Dolby Vision) with any type of video output signal (SDR, HDR, Dolby Vision), and enhances SDR/HDR/Dolby Vision content. Vision conversion quality minimizes banding effects through advanced 12-bit video processing. This allows for image enhancement even when using the media player with older TVs that do not support Dolby Vision.

HDR10+

The PlayerOne 8K is compatible with HDR10+ technology. HDR10+ is the latest and most advanced HDR technology, building on HDR10 to further enhance the visual experience. HDR10+ not only signals the dynamic range (the ratio between light and dark) of video content scene by scene (or even frame by frame), but also provides, with minimal metadata, scene characteristics between bright, luminous, and dark so that important details can be preserved. This allows screens to reproduce images more realistically, respecting the director's intent. While static HDR, such as HDR10, uses static range mapping uniformly over the entire duration of the content, HDR10+ uses dynamic range mapping to optimize each scene, individually increasing brightness and adding contrast to adapt to a screen's capabilities.

8K UHD

The R_volution PlayerOne 8K features an HDMI 2.1a output to provide optimal compatibility with the latest 8K Ultra HD video format including HDR. Your videos can be scaled up to 8K UHD resolution (7680 x 4320), which is 8 times the resolution of Full HD 1080p (1920 x 1080) and 4 times the resolution of 4K UHD (3840 x 2160).

SDR to HDR

The PlayerOne 8K is capable of transforming any SDR image into ultra-bright, vivid, and colorful HDR image if your TV is compatible with HDR technology, thanks to the Dolby VS10 image processing technology.

HDR > SDR

Thanks to Dolby's integrated VS10 image processing, any HDR content is converted to traditional SDR with perfect color calibration. Additionally, the video processing converts Ultra HD video content to uncompressed 1080p 4:4:4 video of very high quality to view 4K or 8K content on Full HD 1080p screens. This process increases the resolution by about 30% compared to Blu-ray on a 1080p TV or projector. With these combined innovative technologies, you can enjoy the benefits of 4K or 8K UHD content on your 1080p TV or projector; all with less compression, more colors, and more details.

DVD, Blu-ray, and UHD Menu Support

Display Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray menus and access additional content (director's cuts, theatrical versions, additional bonuses, favorites, etc.). This feature is compatible with ISO and BDMV (Blu-ray and 4K UHD Blu-ray). Or, if you prefer not to display menus, you can start a movie immediately, without trailers or warnings. Seamless branching is also perfectly supported for flawless playback without interruption on Director's Cut editions. DVD menu compatibility is planned for a future update.

Hard Drive Slot

With its hot-swappable 3.5" SATA rack, the PlayerOne 8K can support up to 16TB of internal data (up to 32TB with two 16TB partitions); the equivalent of approximately 800 Blu-rays or 400 Ultra HD Blu-rays (bit perfect) on a single hard drive. And since it's possible to swap hard drives, you have no capacity limit! With the PlayerOne 8K, you no longer have to worry about storage issues. R_video can manage a collection for all of your hard drives. When you click on the poster of a movie that is placed on a hard drive not present in the player, R_video tells you which hard drive to insert into the player.

R_video analyzes your video files located on a local disk connected to your media player or on a NAS via the local network. Then, R_video collects the cover, wallpaper, soundtrack, and various information such as casting, director, release date, rating, etc. Then, simply sit back in your home cinema with your friends or family, easily choose a movie, series, or concert. Browse a category. Sort movies by duration, rating, or release date. Read the synopsis, watch the trailer. Then, press PLAY to enjoy your movie or series. Series episodes play automatically.

R_video offers automatic banners (4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D, DVD, etc.), and special banners for Final Cut, Director’s Cut, Theatrical Cut, Unrated, Disc 1/2, Bonus, Concert, Special Edition, etc. It also includes: automatic playback of original soundtracks in the background when browsing movies, concerts, or series, parental control, exclusive R_video AI for the best possible movie identification, exclusive high-quality multilingual movie covers, use of a proprietary fanart database R_video DB in addition to TMDB, a filtering system, a sorting bar directly accessible from the right side of the user interface (sort by alphabetical order, duration, date added, release date, rating...), automatic playback of the next episode of series and many other powerful features.

Direct Access & Shortcut Buttons.

Instantly switch between applications (R_video or Explorer) with direct access buttons: resolution, aspect ratio, subtitles, audio tracks, repeat mode, etc. The PlayerOne 8K remote control has a real STOP button, and direct access keys to advance or rewind playback position in 1 minute and 10 sec increments forward and backward.

Long-Range IR Sensor

The PlayerOne 8K features a high-sensitivity infrared sensor that covers a wide angle over a long distance (60°). Additionally, the remote control is equipped with two IR diodes. Furthermore, the PlayerOne 8K comes with an IR extender, allowing you to control your PlayerOne 8K even if it's placed behind closed doors of a cabinet. The sensor is flanked by adhesive tape on the back for easy installation on any flat surface.

Powerful and Fast.

The PlayerOne 8K benefits from the Hi-End version of the latest S928X multimedia processor with integrated Dolby Vision VS10 engine. The main processor includes four ARM A55 cores at 2.0 GHz, a powerful ARM A76 core clocked at 1.9 GHz (with very high performance), and an additional core for system needs. The resulting processor performance is up to 2 times higher than that of the Realtek RTD1619DR chipset used in the previous version of the PlayerOne. The GPU has been upgraded to a Mali G57. Combined with ultra-fast LPDDR4X and eMMC memories, the system offers stunning overall performance. The total Antutu score exceeds 300,000 points, which is significantly higher than that of the previous-generation R_volution media player.

HDMI 2.1a Output

The R_volution PlayerOne 8K offers an HDMI 2.1a output for perfect compatibility with the latest models of UHD 8K TVs, projectors, and home cinema amplifiers. The HDMI 2.1a port provides up to 48 Gbit/s bandwidth, along with other enhancements such as:

• Dynamic HDR (Dynamic HDR Metadata) - HDR data (depth, details, brightness, contrast, and color ranges) can now be optimized scene by scene or even image by image.
• Full HDR video support in 8K 60p - UHD 8K resolution offers 4 times more pixels than 4K and 8 times the resolution of Full HD 1080p. The 8K format provides the most impressive visual experience and delivers smooth and sharp images. The PlayerOne 8K supports both 8K 60p HDR video decoding from video files or streaming content with 8Kp60 HDR video output for the best visual experience possible. The PlayerOne 8K can also downscale 8K content to any other resolution for a better experience on 1080p and 4K Ultra HD screens. It can also upscale any content to 8K Ultra HD resolution.
• SmartTube 8K HDR - Some YouTube 8K streams are encoded in AV1 codec with much higher bitrate (about 2 times higher) than when playing 4K streams (50 Mbps in AV1 quality correspond to even higher bitrate than in VP9 or HEVC). This significantly improves image quality compared to older media players (which can only play files in 4K VP9/HEVC), including on a 1080p or 4K TV.
• High Audio Bitrate - Support for high-bitrate home cinema audio formats, 3D audio like DTS X, Dolby Atmos, and Auro3D, and uncompressed LPCM 2.0, 5.1, and 7.1 audio.

Real Cinema

Cinema movies are shot at a frame rate of 24 frames per second (fps), but most video or Blu-ray files are recorded at 23.976 fps. Today, many media players output a video signal at 24,000 Hz. However, this conversion causes juddering issues, especially on projectors. R_volution Real Cinema technology maintains the original frame rate of the file, whether it's 23.976 fps or 24.000 fps, until the final display to achieve the same smoothness as in the cinema and preserve the original integrity of the displayed work. Furthermore, thanks to autoframerate, the player automatically switches to the correct output frequency based on the file frame rate, namely: 23.976 Hz, 24 Hz, 29.97 Hz, 30 Hz, 50 Hz, and 59.94 Hz (60 Hz) depending on the type of file being played.
